Always good to get out for a ride with the family! What I would have done for a ride in one of these boats as a kid!

My Grandfather got me started back in 1963. He head an Aristocraft that came with a 35HP Johnson. He said it was too slow, so the next year he bought one of the first generation V-4 Johnson's, a 75HP. You had to charge a battery for cranking, but it would run on it's own if you pull started it. It was primitive, but at 48MPH, we were the fastest thing on Lake Allatoona, just north of Atlanta. I've been hooked on fast boats ever since. Here's some pics of one, with the same 75 HP. It brings back memories.

I started in much the similar way with my grandpa and a Glastron...posted vid story and pics on the forum.
Awesome car inspired wings! When you really analyze much of the products from that era it always amazing to me the simple yet very useful way they engineered things.
Like I've said before, I think there should be a" How I got started" topic thread on this site. After all, although many of the forum users race and have modded their streams, the majority of stream owners love hydrostreams in part because they bring back a sense of nostalgia from a by gone era in boating that is associated with memories, people and places we can never recreate or bring back....a well done up stream, in some cases is the only tangible link to those memories for us.

Yeah Andy, I have to agree. Some of those early 60's "new fiberglass" boats were used to create the Buck Roger's look that couldn't be done with wood. Maybe some day I'll spot one and put it back together just to turn some heads. The Stream's are more the fighter jet-spaceship look that grabbed my attention in my 20's. My brother calls them an "Odysee boat", but I love to remember those days tearing up the lake with Grandaddy. I sure do miss him.Andyhydro wrote:I started in much the similar way with my grandpa and a Glastron...posted vid story and pics on the forum.

Hey SPEED! Good to see you haven't left us. The new pump worked out well, and me and the family crew are having a blast. I know you'll be back out there as soon as you can. Bye for now and congrats on your new house!S P E E D wrote:Watching that video makes me miss mine Silkey! Just the sound of that Jonny out back give me goosebumps. Nice vid man!

Looks good, I do miss the days of care free boating with friends-family actually in the same boat.
