Happy 4th of July!
Currently have a '79 vector that is complete and used just about every weekend. Besides it being a blast to drive, there are a lot of things I would love to change. So I decided to reach out and try and find another vector hull to do a total restoration on. After completion, my plans are to source out power, etc... and then sell my current as is.
A member, Bill, mentioned having a hull and willing to donate to someone willing to do the restore... Also living 3.5 hours away, I decided to go pick up it up that weekend.
It will be a month before I dig in physically, but my first problem to overcome is the lack of paper work with the boat. Supposedly the boat is an 83' (I believe) and has never been registered. It will be registered in NC.
I have never done glass work but want to learn (I feel it is a necessary skill to have if one is interested in the performance boat world) . I still have no idea what material to use, the more I read, the more I flip-flop between wood and composite. The only reason I have been leaning more towards composite is due to resale value and the skill with working with composite with future boats as well.
Here are some photos of the new project boat and the problem areas.
Wondering how to post images or maybe change your avatar or maybe something else?

Re: Vector Unknown
This entire section I believe to bondo, unsure of where the glass starts and the bondo ends...

Re: Vector Unknown
The yellow Coast Guard capacity plate on the front passenger side should have the boat's HIN listed.

Re: Vector Unknown
And if its not there, the HIN will (should be) be on the back on the top right side of the transom.
Decode your hin - http://www.hydrostreamforums.com/decodehin
As for getting a title, if there is any reg numbers on it, contact your local DNR and find out if you can get the last registered onwers info. I had a Vegas that didnt have a title but they did send a letter on my behalf and was able to track it down. They wouldnt give me their info for privacy reasons though. But if you know someone in the law enforcement or DNR field they might be able to give it to you so you can go to them directly. They might be able to use the HIN also.
Hope that help and good luck and keep us updated on the progress of things. Looks like a great project.
