well ive been working on my new toy (82 Vulture) ive seen alot of guys on s&f powdercoating their mids. so decided to tear apart my mid. ive never done it before so i just went for it. im waiting for my powerhead to be finished so im doing all the necessarys before i slap it on. im going to do a bobs tuner as of now. i seperated the can from the clamp to get that powedercoated. my powerhead is going to be a pretty much stock 2.5 200. warmed up with boysens and what not. should i replace all the motor mounts while i have it apart? and should i go for solid mounts? what is the benefit of solid mounts? anything else i should do to at this point to help my stock-ish 2.5? any advice would be appreciated.
thanks steve

I'm not the guy to answer your question at this point but I would sure benefit if you took pictures and created a thread along the way. Haven't gotten to the engine yet. Bill

If you got it apart also knock out the inner exhaust liner and drill out the upper exhaust openings makes it run better when in 5mph zones. It also makes it louder. Definitely install the solid mounts. Also after changing the tuner and relieving the exhaust step up one to two jet sizes in the carbs.

Re: somtimes its easier to teach yourself
That's what I was planning on doing. However my knowledge is limited in mid sections. I got the top plate off the mid. Don't know where or how to drill the exhaust ports. And how do I get to the tunrer? I really want to know how to do all this stuff myself. I don't like paying people to do things I can do. (With the exception of my powerhead). So any help would be appreciated. I'm going to take some pics and document my progress

Your adapter is 2 pieces the tuner is under the bottom under your mounts. You can also get some free power from matching the exhaust passages from your powerhead to your tuner, just make it all smooth. I think I had some pictures of when I did my 200, I'll look.
