Super Sentimental Project

As many of you know, my Dad passed away a few months back. HydroStream was one of the most important things in his life as he raced them and designed them with Howard in the mid 70s. I practically grew up at the New Brighton plant. I'd run around in the yard jumping in all the boats while Howard and my Dad worked their magic. Anyway, my Dad owned an HST that he had done some work to in order to run APBA SuperSport class (stock 150 "Green" motor). Anyway, he got it to run pretty good...in fact, it won the National Championships in 2008...or was it 2009...heck, I can't remember now. Anyway, it's not a pretty piece. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it now that it's mine.

I've decided I'm going to completely refurbish it. I'm going to remove the deck, remove all the foam, cut out all the bulkheads and replace them with klegecell bulkheads and supports, remove the heavy gas tank. Essentially, lighten it up as much as I can in order to drag race it. I plan on putting a very healthy 3.3 liter fuel injected Evinrude on it.

I'm really looking forward to the project and am not sure necessarily when it will begin, but I'll keep everybody informed. I can't wait to get it out on the water.

See you guys soon.

Here's a link to an album of photos as the boat sits today.

Sorry about your loss Sam.

Looks like the needs a bit of tlc:)

Transom has been cut down a little. Been planning on doing the same thing on mine.

If you have some time please share some pictures of the cut "planing aids" and the filled in tunnels.

Do you perhaps know the height of the stock rubrail? I have to order a new one but mine came without it.

Good luck on the project!
