I would leave it in personally. That is a huge debate as I have seen Vipers go 90+ with the factory hook. Howard was no dummy when it came to designing boats and he put it there for a reason. Some have taken the hook out only to find a few MPH and the bow then gets a bit light at high speeds. Chet would be a good one to chime in here as I know he has a 100+ mph viper and I think he still has the hook in his. I cant remember though.

I would personally leave it in myself. A lot less work to do also.

My bottom is completely stock, just sharpened corners. I have never driven a modified bottom so I can't compare but have had mine over 100 on the quarter mile with no problems.

someone has already taken hook out of my vector. they also had trim tabs. i plan on just sharpening all the edge as 77viper said and not replacing the tabs. we'll see how she handles (probably sometime NEXT year  )

My bottom is box stock with hook/wedge and with a little stock sissy 2.0 liter 150 its ran over 80 regularly with a coned 200 case....a smidge slower with the new addition of a sportmaster gearcase....but none the less...... Given that, you know what my response to this will be. Chet has been over 100, and I know of one other that, for all intents and purposes is the king of Vipers, and in its prime ran 105-106 with a factory bottom. I will not be touching mine because it does as was intended.
