Well the first hour on the water was great. Then a little rattle so I shut her down. Pulled plugs. #6 looked dry and powdery.
Towed to launch ramp to be safe. Pulled head and #6 detonated!!
Now to figure out why. This motor has an ignition ECU and a fuel ECU. A crank sensor& throttle position sensor tell the computer where to set timing. No trigger on these.
I indexed the flywheel for all 6 cylinders marking 0* and 25*
Timing is supposed to be checked with motor running at full throttle. Well how the hell am I gonna do that? Maybe tied down on trailer at ramp-.....at night so I can see the timing light???? Most likely...
I tried it with the starter and they were all between the 0 & 25 marks.
Powerhead is broke down and at the machine shop getting a .005 hone. It was at .015 and some light scoring will come out with the hone. I’ll get a .020 piston and do some more testing..
