Nope, it's a one part mold. I guarentee you that. The only way I think they got them out was to pull them forward and slide them up and out.

Mine was built in September of 1989

Without going into too much detail....I was standing next to the original HST hull mold yesterday, and for the life of me, I can't figure out how in hell they popped those things out of there with the extensions molded in.
Should be a 2 part mold which can be seperated at the back (where the most aft bulkhead sits)

No other possibility.

The pods are pretty stif there. I can easily step on them.

What year is yours? Mine is a '90 per the hull number.

It was the layup, and materials too I believe. They had some better techniques with the later ones and they were around 900# vs the early ones at over 1200#.

Even that the later ones came in different weights. Mine, for instance, has no core in the front under the deck, just woven roving, and it's pretty thin at that. It is what is considered a mid-weight layup. The hull is strong, but laid up light in the front as well. There is not a lot of core up there either, forward of the foot box.

You know off hand what makes them so heavy? Was it the layup or something. Go a bit thick on the glass? lol

The 1988s were HEAAAVVVYY. Lost a few hundred pounds in the mid 1989 model year.
