I wouldnt say there weren't any, just not on the stringers. There was up in the bow that also doubled as an air box from the factory. Some people get rid of them and just put a bulkhead there. I put the "air box" back in my Vulture (exact same core layout as the VKing) when I did the core and stuff. There is also one at front of the floor as well with small holes to let water drain.

Yes, that helps. I still find it strange that there were no bulkheads, stringers or core forward of the front seats. I guess the floor was the reinforcement.
Tony's build is my reference. He did an amazing job. Great pictures and video.

This is how the VKings core is. The Vulture is like that as well. The Vector and Viper have a lot more core in them.

Take a look at this and the last picture you will see Tonys VKing and how the core is. https://www.hydrostreamforums.com/the-core-what-is-it-and-where-it-is

Hope that helps.

Probably original, my Vision was laid up the same when I had it torn apart.

V-King Core Question

by Joker Jake » Nov 27, 2022 12:18 pm

I am recoring a 1991 Canadian Edition V-King. The old core was not laid out as expected.
There was a layer of Balsa in the pad. This strip is 8' long (from the drain hole) and is the same length as the stringers and the other two strips of core. The other 2 strips are located outboard and separate from the core in the pad. They are separated from the pad by about 4". These strips are about 8" wide. All the basla appeared to be 1/2".
In summary, 3 strips of core, each about 8" wide, 4" between strips, strips and stringers 8 feet long.
Maybe this matters. There is no foot well. Floor was flat right up to the block of wood in the bow. No bulkheads or stringers ahead of the seats.

The core layout seems very minimal. Only 16 square feet of balsa.

Could this be original? Possibly a recore?
