Thank you for posting! I'm going to need one for my Viking after redoing all the gel. Mine is an older style plate.
Did you send a picture for them to work off of? What info did they need? Does anyone re pop foil style plates?

Awesome! I have always thought about getting one for my Vulture but Howard told me in 1977 they didnt really need them with the Vulture being 20 feet. It falls under the "Monohull boats less than 20 feet, and built after October 31, 1972 must have a capacity label affixed" thing. Im not totally sure as the guidelines from the USCG state "and" part of that. But, cause its 20 feet, it also has no horsepower rating. He said that is how they got around that was build a boat 20 feet then we can power it with whatever we want.

"I bought it that way" That's the story I'm gonna stick with. "wink"
I haven't installed it yet. May be safer to leave it in the files with the original MSO.

Out of curiosity, but is that 280 HP max rating true? I see on the brochure scan for the Virage the recommended HP was 150-185.

If that's the case, then wouldn't it be illegal to falsify that information? I'm only asking because I'm going to have to remove the capacity plate from my Viper when I refinish her, and according to Canadian law:
Attaching a Compliance Notice is the responsibility of the manufacturer or importer. An owner cannot be fined if there was no Compliance Notice attached to the vessel by the manufacturer or importer.
There are fines, however, if anyone removes or alters a Compliance Notice or attaches to a vessel a compliance notice that contains untrue information.

When I put my Virage together, Aaron Douglas Wachholz was able to get a Virage capacity plate from Howard Pipcorn. The serial number didn't match but I installed anyway.
I contacted Garzon studios (who reproduces data plates) and $40.00 later have a new plate with the correct information.
It isn't foil but the vinyl replica looks just like the foil one.
If anyone needs a data plate you can contact them here.
