I am replacing the core and stringers on my V-King. After the floor was out I noticed a shiny silver dot in the fibreglass. It was metal.
It was located near the edge of the floor, in the part of the hull that the floor bonds too. I chose to ignore it for about a month.
Today I had a burst of ambition. I lifted the boat so I could see the bottom. There was a glob of some sort of bondo that cooresponded to the silver dot. It was a glob too. Not sanded at all. Rough and standing proud of the hull. There were two other globs as well. I sanded them all down to glass. The silver dot showed up in the first glob.
It looks like a screw.
It is a screw. A screw through the hull.

Maybe someone was trying to screw the floor down? The perimeter the floor was only attached to the hull at the front and back, not the sides. The sides had broken free.
Just thought I would share.
Merry Christmas to all.
