It will be sluggish out of the hole with the smaller motor. The only thing you can do is experiment some with trim angles to get it to launch a little quicker.

Just the nature of the beast I'd say... My Vision with a 200 on it and a 30 pitch prop takes about 5 seconds to come up on plane, with a full load of fuel and 2 lightweights on board (girlfriend and I under 300lbs combined). I know it's the prop that's hindering me, and possibly the voltage regulator that wasn't working at all last year :(

Newb with setup question

Hey guys, been having some fun with my '82 Ventura and looking for opinions on my setup. It has a 1977 Johnson 140 on the back with a Raker 13.5x22 Stainless 3-blade prop and SST hydrofoil. The boat runs out great, with me and 2 people (combined weight I'd say about 600), plus a cooler, fuel, and typical gear she'll run 50-55 easy across the lake but seems to take a second to come up on plane. You lay into her and she dips down in the back, raises the bow and seems to slowly build rpm then the bow comes down and you hear her start purrin and she moves. I haven't had it out by myself yet, just me and one other person one time but we werent testing her speed at that time just how she ran in general. Anything I should try on getting her to plane a little faster or do you think it's because I had 2 fatty's onboard
