From what I have been reading, balsa is a great core for a boat. I would say make sure you soak some resin in the balsa before you lay it in the hull, and make sure there is enough resin to make a bond if it soaks up a little more. on top, I did mine with a layer of 17 oz and used a paint brush to spread out the resin for the most part. then rolled it out with a glass roller. Once I get more stuff its on to the stringers. If you are worried about it being sealed up, make sure you are using enough resin. the top side will definitely soak it up. Gel coat will help seal it up better also when you go to finish it up

Just curious but once I do get to the point of laying core , is there something better than balsa and other question is one the balsa is layed would it be better to get it shot over with a chopper gun I know someone who builds boats that's could do it , just wanting the best sealed off way when I get to that point

You're doing a great job so far, keep on going carefully and you should do just fine! looks like you found the core area in the pad too. Keep it up

Should be supported as well as you possibly can. Best looking jig I ever saw on this thread

Ok cause I can look down it at bottom from back and see in just eyeballing it I'm guessing I would see 1/4 inch of daylight
