Cool I Don't think I need to do anything to this for a while, but it's nice to know.

About 95% of all laptops have on board video and can not be replaced without replacing the whole mother board. The reason for this is to be able to keep them more compact. As far as the video specs in your new lap top, I dont think you will ever have anything to worry about unless you start doing some heavy gaming or some really graphic intensive stuff and I dont see you doing any of that. Not any time soon anyways. ;)

they still have more
i recommend getting something that has a dedicated video card for graphics
you'll see it on the spec list
or else you'll be using your PC chip set for that
here's a link to some deals, the one i got was 100 bucks on sale for 399

That looks good and would run great with 6gb ram. Seems to have everything you need. You can compare at bestbuy, but I think something similar and new would be round 500. MAke sure and let me know when you are coming down my way. Bill

Thanks guys.
I can't say I know enough about computers to have a opinion on Macs, but they are out of my price range.

Are you better off with say 3GB of memory and a bigger processor, or more memory and a smaller processor.

I found what looks like a good deal on a used HP http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ank/ele/2132588044.html.

It should be the the second or third week in Jan that I will be out there.

Chet, up the memory to 3GB. Windows 7.0 takes almost all of the 2gb to run, leaving you not enough to run quickly. It costs a little more but is well worth it. Also, I am NOT an APPLE guy. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. Also, do you have a better idea when you are coming to Yamaha yet? Looking forward to meeting you. Bill
