1976 Viper Bicentennial For Sale
I am selling my project boat, 1976 Stars and Stripes Viper. Just don't have time to finish this project as life has changed. Want her to go to a good home and get completed. Currently the boat is split (hull and deck). Core, stringers, and transom have been removed. Transom is ground out. Hull is ab...

Re: 1976 Bicentennial Restore
Yep, still here. After a year of moving to a new house and starting a hobby farm, it's time to get this thing done! Just to get things straight in my head, here's how I see it 1. Once grinding is done, and everything cleaned up, install new transom. 2. Once the transom is bonded, bond the hull and d...

Interior black covering-76 Viper
This is the best I can describe it....on my 76 Viper, I split the hull and deck. Now, on the upper part of the inside of the hull, the hull is covered in black. Does not look like gel, was it paint? I am grinding the lips right now that bond the hull and deck together. How far down on the hull from ...

Re: Splash Well question
Thanks for the info. Deck is already off the hull, so I will plan on keeping the well.

Splash Well question
On a 1976 Viper, what was the purpose of the splash well? I have seen guys are closing in the splash well when redoing a Viper or Vulture. What is the best way to go...keep it original and have the well or enclose the well altogether? When I pulled out the transom, it was all rotten around the splas...

Re: 1976 Bicentennial Restore
Hippie- I chipped out and removed all the wood core, what is left now is the resin and leftover parts of the core which need to be ground out. I began grinding yesterday and started in the bow area, starboard side (2nd pic). I was using the belt sander and, although it was working getting down to th...

Re: 1976 Bicentennial Restore
Began sanding and grinding today. Started at the bow and didn't get very far. I was using a belt sander, however, the belts kept tearing so I decided to scrap that idea. I do have a 4" grinder and see many posts in which they use a grinder. What so I need to get for the grinder to make it sand?...

Re: transom and recore??????
I have seen this a few times in other posts regarding the splashwell, and hopefully this question goes along with this post. What is the purpose of filling in the splashwell, rather than leaving it the way it was with a well? On a viper, it has a well with a drain going through the transom. Are thei...

Stringer question
I have a situation with another boat I currently own. It's a 1981 Ski Supreme tournament style ski boat. Direct Drive with a 302 Ford inboard. This boat is used for my course skiing and barefoot skiing. When I was winterizing the motor in October, I noticed the lag bolts that hold the motor mounts t...
