Re: 87 Vegas XT engine suggestions
See post on engine section. Any healthy stock 150 on the transom should put a Vegas XT in the 70's--no lwp or cone. Note: Mazco RE3 (not sure of prop builder status--new owner passed) *U can run OMC props on a Merc but can't run merc props on OMC (unless u re-hub) --spine length different Do u prefe...

Re: 87 vegas xt engine shaft length?
I've had 3 XT's although not a Vegas. 20 inch most popular by far. My Voyager XT started bolted to transom bottom hole (highest prop setting). Ran real good. Watch your water pressure. Top water holes on intake are filled in. Had a factory 15 inch on another Voyager XT for several seasons--just for ...

Re: Pre-Mix Oil,,,whos using what? and why?
Quickest way to start an argument; political parties, religion, and oil. I use Klotz KL 332. Been good to me. Another is Golden Spectro. Usually 40:1 on Merc 2.5 200, 225PM. On a no rev day (when is that?) 50:1. Yamaha 2.6 injected 50:1 too. I ran Klotz in a Jesuit sponsored motorcycle in a Republic...

Re: 1990 Voyager
1989 or 90 Voyager XT I had in 2000's. Never should have sold it. Usually had 225 PM on it. Pic is 2 litre 150. Sold with a buddy's 2.5 Carb on it. Only had about 30 minutes with that motor to make sure it was ok. Really woke that boat up--

Re: looking for information
Your XT bottom came in 5 tops and yours is the most rare. Venus (cuddy), Voyager (open bow), Vulture (concave closed bow) and Vegas (closed bow and most popular). Owned 3 XT's and liked them. Any HS bass boat is a rare bird.

Re: 2003 Vegas ,new Mercury v8 225 hp
I-6 going away (15 year old technology). 400r+ will be v8. 300R naturally aspirated. New 400R+ V8 blown? I think a Vegas could handle a production V6 225 4 stroke--but lower Unit? Cone it as in the past. There was a Evinrude V8 on a Vulture (blew my doors off--and I didn't even have doors) and on a ...

Re: 2003 Vegas ,new Mercury v8 225 hp
New 400R should be out soon. V8 4 stroke. A pair of those on the back of a Skater would not suck for performance. 130+ mph boat. Roughly 300# lighter than two 400R Verados (Inline 6). Not too many 2 strokes running 130--right out of the box.
