v4 no more

Post: # 1230Post tommy »

hi guys , i just came back from the lake for the last time with the v4, i put a borrowed chopper 26 pitch prop and nose cone low water pick up gear case.played with jackplate up and down a million times, played with weight placement, burnt 20 gallons of fuel, best pass was 68.2 mph, holeshot sucked.propshaft worked best 1/2 below pad,any higher i gained rpm but lost speed on radar. on the way back to the trailer i burnt # 1 cylinder, not going to rebuild motor. i am going to finish my evinrude xp 150 project for the viper. 16'' mid section was finished last week, waiting on bobs machine to send my gear case back, powerhead is fresh as of last night, 30 over ,light port and blend, balanced rods and pistons, hope to put it on the water next weekend for some test n tune.

Alas, I too have blown up a couple of 140's, :cry1: both were running under 4500 rpm at the time. :?: You'll like the V6 a lot better anyway.

this little x flow was turning about 5900 when the piston impregnated the spark plug with aluminum, not my first by a long shot, but this v6 that i am building now is what i planned on putting on the viper to start with. friends came by the shop and talked me in to playing with the v4, not that it took much arm twisting. lol
