Noob Prop Question
I'm looking at my prop today, which just peeked out of the snow this week, and have a stupid question. Mine looks it's age. No dents or dings or scratches, just tarnished. I see props for sale that look spankin new, no matter their age. Are people taking better care of their props than I am for some sort of in water advantage? Or are they just buffed up and pretty for the pictures?

Re: Noob Prop Question
Ok, but why? I've had outboards nearly all my life, and have never practiced this. I've seen people pull their props, but only for security reasons, which has never been an issue for me. And what's with pulling the lower unit? What am I missing here?

Re: Noob Prop Question
Hey, c'mon, I'm 33.... Lol... I always drain my lower unit before I store the boat, never had an issue. Not saying it can't happen, just wondering the reasoning. Still haven't heard why everyone has nice shiny props.....

Re: Noob Prop Question
Shiny you can see cracks starting. As far as performance don't think it would make that much difference. Shiny def looks cool though. I always take my gear case off for the winter. Going to start spiffing it up today.
