18' Hooker/200 efi merc prop decision

Post: # 4616Post evldoer »

I need to find a prop for my combo, just bought a '99 200 efi merc that had a new power head put on in '05, compression is 125 in all holes, boat is a '89 18 foot Hydrostream Hooker bass boat with a 6" jack plate. I generelly have alot of equipment in the boat, but I dont know where to start for a prop, since my last motor was an inline 6 115hp merc. Yes I would like to go fast, but getting out of the hole is more important to me, so any thoughts on where I should be starting for a prop would be great. Thanks, MIKE

I have a V-king with a 175 johnny. It has a renegade 4 blade 23 pitch and it'll snatch your head off! It'll only go about 65 MPH though.

Well I ended up with a 24 pitch 4 blade stainless. On the gps I can do 50 mph, and I am maxing out at 5800 rpm. I wish my hooker wasnt so HEAVY!!

I would imagine you have a heck of a holeshot with the 24". If you are hitting the limiter you need a taller prop.

Like hst said post some pictures of the back of the boat with the motor trimmed neutral.

Running a Pro V Yamaha making about 220 hp. I run a 27 pitch Renegade with 10" of set back, hydraulic transom. Watch the water pressure.
