Well, between building a pole barn, I get a couple hours here and there to work on the boat.

Two days ago I got the seat boxes glassed in place.

Yesterday, I got the splashwell glassed in and really went to town on the inside corners where they are prone to cracking.

I glassed the tight 90* corner first, then used structural fiberglass putty to make the new radius, then more glass. Mat and three layers of 1708

I get a kick out of seeing the fairing putty fill in where the grinding disk hit a bit deep. Mine was covered in marks like that after block sanding the primer. Looking forward to the finished results.

Yesterday, while letting fairing putty dry, I made a “doo-dad” for the hydraulic steering hoses. The 3” opening was just too large to have just two hoses come out.

I shaped some foam and glassed up, shaped and ready for black gelcoat.

Yesterday I decided to make a swim step.

David Fatov got me measurements off his Voyager.

I leveled the hull and got my transom angle.
I am going to make fiberglass L-brackets to save some $$.

Cut a piece of foam to the shape, hot glued strips on for sides, silicone the inside corners for the radius I liked, waxed and laid up.

Got about 6 hours into this project.

Thanks Kevin!!!

Forgot to add that I filled in a 3” gauge hole and the windshield screw holes and re-gelled these areas.

The windshield will get re-mounted and laid back like the 1990 and newer Voyagers.

Today I took the swim step Out of the mold, did some very minor touch ups and re- shot it. I’ll pull a nice mold off this.

Spent 8 hours wet sanding and buffing the black on the back .
400,600,800,1000,1200 wet sand.
You can really tell when you hit 1000 grit. Starts to get a shine!!

I have a 6 step process that works great for dark colors.
The last 4 steps use a random orbit so no swirl marks show.
