New Hydrostream guy

Post: # 16939Post OMCFREAK »

After wanting a Hydrostream for a long time, I finally got one. Probably not everyones favorite, but it's a 1985 Vamp with a great transom and bone dry core. Better yet it was $600 less engine with an EZ loader bunk trailer. My 74 Johnson only pushes it about 52 GPS, but only paid $300 for the engine and it runs like a champ. I'll make some mods to it to help with power. It spins a 24p original Raker.

Welcome and congrats on the purchase. I would say by the looks of it you got one heck of a deal for $600.

I bet just with some set up and not touching anything with the motor, You could get much more then 52mph out of it. Im going to guess the motor is pretty deep in the water by the looks of it.

Yep, motor is bolted to the transom and running deep. Definitely want to get a jack plate. I will be working on the setup as long as weather permits this fall. Also will be doing a bit of engine work along the way. Can't wait to make it to a get together next year.

Raise up that motor and get that prop shaft as close as you can to level with the pad without loosing water pressure (Assuming you dont have nose cona with a low water pick up) and I bet your numbers will go way up! If you cant go any higher on the transom you may need a jackplate but I would bet that a 2-4 inch plate will do wonders as well.
