High Density Foam??? What Kind??
So, the guy is going to get foam for my back seat and he needs to know what Thickness. Any Ideas? For the back seat and back seat back rest? 1" or 2" What was the original?
To clarify, I want Closed Cell waterproof High Density Foam correct?
Also, he wants to know what Grade of Foam? What Density? How Firm? What do I want?
Thanks for the Help guys.

Re: High Density Foam??? What Kind??
I went with 4 inch high density closed cell foam for my back seat. I pulled it tight to give it a soft but still firm feel. Bill

Re: High Density Foam??? What Kind??
OK thanks. Here is what I learned:
Density = Quality. Higher Density means higher urethane to air ratio. In the Industry they say that a Density of 2.0 or higher is Good Quality Foam. 2.1 is pretty standard for boat foam.
Compression or ILD rating. This is the firmness rating. Standard for a boat is around 48. That's with 4" thickness. If you need to go thinner, like 2-3" you might want to use A higher Compression like a 78. So that you don't bottom out.
Open Cell or Closed Cell. Closed cell means that the water cannot get into the foam. No Sponge. Open Cell means that it can get in. IF you use open, make sure its Mildew Resistant. Most manufacturers use Open Cell Mildew Resistant Foam. Closed Cell is much more expensive.
Hope that helps.
I think I will use Open Cell, 4" 2.1 Density with 48" Compression. I live in a dry climate and I don't think the Closed cell is needed.
BTW garysupholstery.com. Very Nice and helpful person.

Re: High Density Foam??? What Kind??
OK, so 4" for the bottom was too thick. I got the seats finished, and it sits too hihg. Its fine for now, i think I might lower it at the end of the year. I would recomend 3 " for the bottom seat and maybee 2" for the back. I will post pics int eh other forum question about the back seat at this location: http://www.hydrostreamforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1747&start=30
