Well the merc 110hp doesn't do it for me. I just got a 150hp gt mariner low water nose cone with a jack plate with set back. Should I use jack plate w the setback or just mount tight to transom? From what I've read the vector doesn't line the set back. Anyone with experiance would be a big help. I'm going to do a recore and transom this winter and doent want to make swiss cheese with a new transom. Since I don't have time this fall to try it out I thought I would just ask to find out.

Re: vector and jack plate setback??
How much of a set back is that jack plate? I would say in the 4" area is a good place to start on a Vector.
Also, I would do the core and transom first seeing as you plan to redo it anyhow. It will make for a totally different boat once its done. What might have worked on a mushy boat boat may be complete opposite on a dry strong boat.

Re: vector and jack plate setback??
You can drill a jack plate to match the bolt pattern for your motor. Then, if you take off the jack plate, the motor will bolt right to the same holes in the transom.
