cn i get 225 horser out of an older 175 merc n if so any help w where to find parts

Folks used to build up the 175s, but 30% increase is a lot to ask. An older 175 is a 2liter. A 2.4 or 2.5 liter powerhead will get there with little or no alterations.

thanx for the info my vector came w the 175 ......any older 2.4 or 2.5 s out there possibly need n refresh it ll b my first outboard rebiuld but not first two stroke n im kinda lookn forward to do n one y r the mercs so much more sought after im not religous to either just NEED a good deal on sumth n i cn redo that ll push my vector close to a hundred
