well 2.5 mercury efi dropped a rod

okie so today been out all day took a evening ride bout 12miles down river was headed 12 miles back to the dock and started to give her some gas and kindly lost power for a sec so i let out of it then it started to make a terrible knocking sound the clink so got towed back bout 4 miles got it home opened the cowling up looking for a hole and behold the number 6 cylinder rod came loose and came out my front half knocked a hole in bout 50 cent piece what would cause this to happen motor has been fine then just happened all of a sudden like it droped the bearing then the play broke the rod clamp around the crank any suggestion as to what might have had happened thanks

broke the bolts at the crank on the clip and broke my steel sleeve at the bottom towards the intake

Looks like the piston stuck and broke the rod cap. Have the injectors cleaned before putting it back together. We use Bracato and they give a print out so that way you can see what they were flowing.
