Re: Engine for CE Vision
I bought mine with a modified 2.4 200hp merc EFI with a 30 pitch prop. It was a friggging handful. I stepped down to a 23, easier to drive, but I think the V6 might be too big for the boat. But then again, I'm ok with that lol

Re: Engine for CE Vision
Thats really interesting....so what would the differences in driving characteristics be between a merc 150 v6 and lets say a yamaha pro fuel 150?

Re: Engine for CE Vision
I don't know anything about the Yamaha, but the weight and center of gravity on the Merc V6 is a little much, especially with the 6" setback I have. It took 100 lbs of sand in the nose to balance it better, but it's still light in the front. You should check out the threads I have on the go, I've posted quite a bit lol

Re: Engine for CE Vision
Soo would a short shaft help the gravity issue or is the majority of the weight still up top?

Re: Engine for CE Vision
I'll be looking for a 15" mid over the winter. What colour is the boat you bought? I looked at a few of them when I bought mine, chances are I know it, or have at least seen it.... You need a minimum number of posts before you can upload pictures, I think you should be able to now though.

Re: Engine for CE Vision
Check out this picture of mine. At this point I still had the 30 pitch prop, had just bolted on the 6" setback, with no counterweight up front. The boat was very twitchy with just me in it. I hit 85mph that weekend, but it was a little scary. You can see how the motor weighs down the rear of the boat, the rear wingtips are actually under water in that picture, and there's about 1" of water inside the splashwell. Coming down off plane was nerve racking. Another learning experience lol
