Here's how it sits now with 100 lbs of sand in the nose, much easier to drive.

Wow shes a beauty! I have a 100 lbs weight built in way up under the dash....I think I will be taking a look around for a 15 in mid....and not too much set back.....heard anything good about jack/set back combo?

I bought mine rebuilt by the Spaeth boys ....stringers floor marine carpet and steering cables. I bought it in Kirkfield/ Bolsover ....shes red metal fleck with a touch of silver and a stainless steel mounting plate. pics to come as soon as I take posession.

It's an EFI yes. I like it. There's better motors out there, but it's what I have and I'm happy with it. If I were to do it over again with the knowledge I have now I would have bought a bob's convertible jack instead of my TH Marine 6". The convertible jack has less setback, around 3.5" I think. My prop shaft height is about 1/2" under the pad, seems to work well.

What year did they make them to? and what is the general price range? Really appreciate your time....It's important to talk to someone with the same ride.

Andrew
I haven't done a lot of research on build years or used pricing, I got the motor with the boat, so that's what I've been working with. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying hanging a V6 on the back of these things is a bad idea, but it's taken me 2 years to get it this far, and it's still not right....

Def gonna pick up the jack you suggested I'm assuming with the weight I have front that the two boats with drive similar....when you say yours still isn't right...are talking about porpoising during mid speed and heavy chine?

I've been fighting the boat all along. My NFB cable steering isn't working well, and there's a lot of weight to manage on the back of the boat. I've driven overpowered boats before, but nothing like this one. There's a balance I need to achieve, and I'm not there yet. I think the big setback was a mistake, but I'll work with it a bit more before I condemn it. It's put away for winter now, so I'll be shopping for a short mid, new gearcase (mine's cracked), and ride guide steering cables. In the spring I expect to do a recore, I know the floor has to be re-done, so I'll confirm the condition of the core and transom then. I'll use light materials and make sure the boat is well balanced side to side, and get rid of anything unnessecary (oil tank for instance). Where do you plan on running? I have family in Peterborough, I'll be running the Trent Severn a few times next year....

I have mid speed porpoising issues, and I can't run full speed because my steering locks solid, can't correct chine walk if it happens, to answer your question lol

Wow that's gotta be aggravating to no end....mine was recored last year and a new floor put in but I will have to focus on the steering.....it's got dual cable right now but I'm thinking about hydraulic .....any idea of the cost? As well as installation....is it difficult to put in?
