Wow! Looks great! Did you install the cone yourself?

i had a friend do the welding, but i finished the body work. my best run was 68 mph on gps with the old unit. i would have to shut it down when i lost water pressuere.(too much trim) im really hopeing to break 70 saturday. if conditions are right, ill have a 3 mile streach to let it loose. i havent adjusted my jack plate since i owned the boat, and thinking of playing with the hight while im out. any sugestions for a start hight? im running a stage 2 virage with XR4 150 manual jackplate and mercury lazer 2, 24pitch prop. was also wondering how many rpms is still safe? ive tryed to stay under 6000. iv also heard that when running high rpms, i should use klotzs oil? any advice will be greatly aprecated, tx mike

Did you do the work installing the water hose stuff then or was there a cone on it previously so it was already there?

I would start an inch below the pad or even with it and go from there. Where were you at before?

the water hose stuff was allready drilled and taped. its tuff to mesure the prop shaft height cuz the boat aint on level ground. it looks to be 4 inches below the pad. i will experment with different hights and report what hapens. still wondering howmany rpm i can turn and still be safe?

easy way, Just take a straight edge (or anything straight) and place it flat on the pad and trim the motor down till the prop shaft as the same angle as the pad the measure. If its 4" below you need to come way up. The boat will really come to life and prob handle a heck of a lot better.

Always had trouble with the straight edge deal, thing would flop all over, then trying to sight the propshaft. I do this now, I can look at it all day from any angle (only took me 35 years to figure it out)

I've been turning my 2.4 200 XRI EFI at a little over 7000 rpm all summer with no ill effects. I've been careful, giving it short blasts, checking the plugs, extending higher rpm runtimes in small increments, checking the plugs. I've been warned enough times that I'll be pulling my oil injection off and mixing it myself. There's always the risk of catastrophic failure, but I'm trying to do it as safely as possible. 1 season down, we'll see how she does next year.
