08 voyager set up for skiing and pulling toys

Post: # 18798Post fullshift »

I have an 08 voyager with a 300xs. The motor is in the lowest mounting on boat. It has a Bobs 6in set back jack plate,SM 1.62 gear case and pro et 28 lab finish prop. 0-40mph the boat porpoises badly and has very high bow lift and prop slips to much to pull up skier on 1 ski, Does anyone have a good set up to pull skiers and water toys for this outfit?

28 lab finished what, chopper or cleaver? Either way, go smaller. I use a 24" chopper for my everyday prop. Pulls skiers, tubers, and runs 75 mph balls out. The porpoising is still an issue for me, hope to settle that down with a drag plate. Where in Canada are you??

28 pitch ain't bad for a 300xs, the porpoising is an issue for these boats, see if you can distribute some of the weight around to the front, it could just be stern heavy

One solution, you could sell me the voyager!

I would try a smaller pitch 20-24 get you on plane faster maybe a trophy or a high five is what I run when sking wth my checkmate, as stated above drag/cavitation plate and weight distribution plays a huge part, less setback on your jackplate would help a lot . Me personaly ive never heard of anyone totally solving porpisiong with a newer voyager. Wonder if a whale tail would help?

Have you checked out fast boats Canada? There's a couple guys around Winnipeg who could help you out, possibly set up some sort of test and tune.....

Hydrofoil recommended I put on their original classic hydrofoil wing. has been a big improvement in porpoising and bow lift is half of before. Can pull me up on one ski now. How strong is the ski bar? Can it handle 2-3 tubes with adult boys on them? Should I reinforce it?
