Re: Silkeysak out yesterday
Yeah Rut, it is a fresh powerhead. Right now I'm seeing mid 80's with a stock 28 pitch Raker I, the original which is supposedly better (whatever). If I come up even with the pad it turns to many R's, so right now I'm down 1" to1 1/2". I need a good 30 pitch to see some better top end. I think I could pull a skier up with the 28. If any of you guys are have trouble with your hole shot or porpoising, I highly recommend a combination of the Bob's Machine aluminum cavitation plate (59.00), and the six degree negative wedges. I installed them on the Viking, and the boat jumps on a plane without all that high rise at the bow, porpoising is negligable, and you can cruise on a plane at really low speeds. No prop ventilation coming up on plane even running even with the pad. Only thing is, it knocks down the normal motor high rooster, but who cares. I kept raising the motor thinking I was running too low, but with someone else driving I looked out back and saw that the plate was knocking it down. There is no sacrifice on performance, and running at lower speeds it seems to save gas. Even with the negative wedges, there is still enough trim to blow it over if you overtrim. I'm very pleased with the results. Now my wife doesn't complain about her tits bouncing from the low to mid-speed porpoise.
