Do you have any pictures?
I have seen a couple with V-6 motors but all were hanging on the transom and not surfacing the prop.
Man, my motor is really up there getting the prop shaft even with the pad. Maybe someday I will get a 15" mid and use the spare lower I have for my 280/ Virage set-up.

Well,.. just to show things are rolling, here’s my weekend progress.

Got the cowl skirt laid up saturday and left in the mold overnight.

Trimmed as much from the fishing motor lower cowl leaving the belly pan and side mount supports.

Sunday I pulled the skirt out of the mold and clamped to the midsection. The alien cowl was set on a 2”x4” flat on the flywheel to set clearance. I want it as low as possible.

Next I started cutting some urethane foam and hot glueing it to the fishing pan. Some 40 grit on a durablock shaped the foam quickly.

A few more details to do then glass the pieces together and remove the foam.. scroll from bottom to top.

I got two layers of glass on the sides to stabilize the foam. I cut thru the glass inline with the split in the factory pan so I can pull off the mid and continue attaching the new sides to the belly portion and start removing the foam. This will be several small layups as I don't want to remove too much foam at one time.

Kevin,
The attachment points to the factory mounts are too intricate to mold so I am building onto the basic pan. I sanded the foam beyond where the final shape would be to accommodate the two layers of glass I put on. As it progresses, I'll post pictures and you will see it transform into a split bottom pan. Then it will get sanded smooth, gel coated, and painted with the hood and skirt.

Got the back part glassed up where the skirt mounts, flipped over and removed the foam.
Little prep and I can thicken up the sides with more glass on the inside and tie into the mounts.

Thanks guys, this has been a lot more work than I has thought.
Making a split alien bottom with the detail I wanted required several small layups. I didn’t want to see a split in the raised center body line so I had it overlap. I needed to leave enough room for paint , not touch, and have virtually no noticeable gap if you look at it from the side.

All the spider cracks on the cowl were ground out and filled back in. Going to get in primer tomorrow.
