Went to my buddies makeshift booth and got three coats of epoxy primer on. So far so good...

Got all the pieces painted with three coats of PPG single stage black. Now time to assemble.
I did fill in the right side water intake holes, enlarge the three remaining holes and bevel the rear edge to reduce turbulence. Should have cleaner water entering the leading edge of the prop now.

I have pics and drag race videos all over facebook of the GT.
I race all summer at Blarney Island in Antioch, Illinois. Your build would be an excellent contender.

My channel is here if you want to see how it handles at 75.
Try to find the moment in the video when the prop blows out...

Nice video's.
Are you running a jackplate?

I have been to Blarney Island for the drags..........back in 2000. What a cool place. We go to Minnesota from time to time. Frost your nuts run, Three lakes shoot out..... are the events we like to attend. We have towed our Viper / 200hp once and our Virage/ 280 hp once to MN. Might be time to bring the GT over to play.

Working on the rigging hoses, cowl to pan gasket, and latches are getting done now.

with a foot throttle, I didn’t need a bulky side mount control box. Being a budget build, I decided to make a shifter.
I pulled the kill switch and mounted it in the side panel, put the key switch to the dash.

The paint had cured long enough to put on the retro decals.
They fit and look awesome!!

Waiting on the rigging tube bezels to finish the under splashwell rigging then install the gas tank.

Thanks Kevin!! I’m pretty proud of that task.

With a decent 40* day I decided to get the old girl out for her maiden voyage. Caprice was in our friends 28’ boat tasking pictures and videos.
Got 78 mph in the 1 1/2 hr run.

Since then I swapped in a hydraulic jack plate and added 1 1/2” more setback. Trying to get the bow up a tad more.

Not too bad what so ever, considering that boat was probably never meant to go much over 55 mph. LoL Very cool stuff!

You made yourself one heck of a nice looking rig, Ron!
