Kevin, do you happen to have any pictures of destroyed boats from a core delimitation? That may be a good addition to the article.

Off hand I don't. I did have some a good while ago but I don't know what I did with them. I will certainly see what I can find and add them to the article though.

I've seen this come up a few times on Facebook.

Contrary to what your neighbour tells you...or your buddy who builds offshore race boats...but slicing up 2x4s and using that as a core material because it's cheaper than balsa (and by extension, even more cheaper than composites) is NOT a good idea.

And don't even ask me what this guy was using as "stringers".

It literally looks like the edge side of a cardboard pallet.

Someone mentioned that it's possibly Nidacore (a composite core material), but last I checked, Nidacore was white, so exposure to resin would result in a pretty uniform colour, would it not? Nevermind the spacing between cells in the Nidacore is a lot closer together.

So basically it boils down to: Don't cheap out. You put yourself, and possibly others, in danger by doing this. Is saving a few hundred bucks really worth it?

I have a Panther. Fleas the core follow the “twin” hulls and follow the vertical face up the tunnel wall and across the floor (over the tunnel), or is it just in the two hulls?

I have personally never seen the core layout in a panther but I would assume there is assume that there is core down in the sponsons, along with the bottom of the hull and in the pad area. Won't know without pulling the floor out. Have any pictures of it and the interior area?

I do have photos, but apparently they are too large to attach.

I saw you have a pic up of it on Facebook. It's yellow, right? Can you upload the pics to the Facebook group? I can snag them from there and upload them to the thread here, if you wish.
