Time to get this topic back on track!!!
Well, got the seat box out and nothing but soaked wood! It did come out some what easy.
Here we are grinding the wood strips they put down to screw the floor to. Big no no!!
And here is what was one piece of the plywood stips left behind. Notice the 2 round spots. That is bondo and it kept the wood strips up off the hull so there was a void! And you guessed it, There was standing water under the wood in the gap. Also, The must have used scrap wood as the next piece was much shorter and had angled cuts so they used bondo again to fill the viod in the 2 pieces. What the hell were they thinking! LoL
And here is what we ended up with for the most part. The seat box removed and the strip of wood all along the left side. That Plywood was soaked but does not come up as easy as bulsa would what so ever. Also, The amount of materials on there made for alot of work just to get at that strip of wood.
And here you can see there great job of joining the new stringer to the factory stringer. Not such a good job.
I really have my work cut out for me on this one. If the small strips are any indication of the coor area then Im in for some work. Im so glad I have some help. What you see here was about 4 hours of work. We thought it was going to go alot faster until we actually got an inch of epoxy off to get to the wood strips that should never have been there in the first place.

Well, I have only been at it for about 15 minutes today but got most the carpet out up front, hot foot out, piece of soaking wet wood that was a small floor up under the bow. Not to much to see really but its going somewhere.
And then I decided to see what was under that bad glass job in the pad area that was under the seat box and guess what I found. Some mud! That stuff is so wet you could put a fire out with it.
I am waiting for my help to get here then hopefully we can get a lot of it knocked out today.

Time to bore you with a lot of pictures and some story to go along with them. I am amazed at how awful this was put back together at one time. There was not a single dry piece of wood in there so far and when that plywood core was not even close to dry, it doesn't stay together when pulling it up so well so I will be doing some grinding it out where it did manage to have a decent bond to the hull.
Just click on any of the picture to enlarge them.
here is the other side that has the covered foam.
Here is some nice wet wood up by the bulkhead. There was a single stringer from the front of the seat box to the bulkhead that was mud and barely glassed in. I am going to redo that and run the 2 stringers all the way up to the bulkhead then run the floor all the way up and to the bulkhead and mount my seats right to the floor on these super low profile locking swivel mounts I picked up super cheap from a friend. Here they are. I only paid $20 for the pair and they have never been used - Swivel seat mounts
Here is what I got done today. Got both of the plywood core sections out for the most part. The one on the port side was super wet and was actually somewhat bonded to the hull so it didn't come up in one piece so some extra grinding will be in order for sure. The other side was soaking wet but was barley bonded to the hull so it just about came up in one piece. We just had to grind away at what seemed like 3 inch thick resin on the edges of the plywood.
Some of the wonderful wet wood I found. At least it just comes right out with no work what so ever. I am going to eliminate that goofy area that looks like it would have been an air box or something just behind the bulkhead and run the stringers all the way up. In a way eliminating the actual seat box and just attach them to the floor really. The gray area is where I ground down all the epoxy and crap and that little section took me about an hour and that was the easy spot that wasn't so built up with crap. LoL
And as you can see down the pad area they never repaired it anywhere. They just left the wet wood in there and poured some resin over the existing fiberglass that was over the core. You can see the wet wood at the bottom of the picture then above that is glass then the dark area at the top is the epoxy that is over the glass. I'm am still trying to decide if I am just going to go extra think on the glass there or put core back in in the pad area.
Here are just a few more pictures I snapped at the end of the day today. I feel like we got a lot done in the 4 hours we worked on it considering how them plywood core sections were in there. It was harder getting the resin crap broke to get the plywood up and out of there then actually taking it out.
I haven't done anything up here yet but its next. I have to chase down a small fan I don't have to worry about to put up there when I start grinding up there.
Enjoy the pictures!! Hope there not to boring as I am trying to take plenty along the way for everyone to see plus my own records so I can look back at them a few years from now and smile and know I have a great boat!

It doesn't look like much in the picture but there is a good amount of stuff there from today.

Click the image to enlarge it
I will get a better picture of some later so you can see. It was some rock hard stuff that they were now shy about using what so ever. LoL And look how thick it is. Has to be a good inch.
Im guessing that what it is. Look at that yellow/brownish junk. It was so thick and had zero glass in it what so ever.77viper wrote:Looks like your making good progress.
Do you know if the repairs were done in epoxy?

I managed to get about 2 hours of work in on it yesterday before we got hit with some really nasty weather. Not much to look at really.
And here is after our weather came through. At least it doesn't leak.
Hopefully I will be able to get more work done soon. Work and being dad has really cut into my boat repair time lately. LOL

Aww guys... Your making me blush!
I dont know what to say but thanks. And it my pleasure to have this place for all of us. No one else was putting a site up so I decided I had the resources to go ahead with it so thats what I did. I hope be able to get some time soon to really get things rolling here and really get this place on the map.

Well, I know its not core work but I did manage to get what was left of the windshield out of the frame. It was not hard at all but a little tricky.
Here are my tools of choice. A small scraper. Don't want one to big. The thinner it is the better. And a part of a hose clamp. It was stripped out so I didn't feel bad cutting it up.
First thing is to locate the little clips in the frame and place each tool as shown to release the clip.
And then give it a nice little pull and it should come out. Now my windshield was already half gone and all busted up so I broke it even more to make it easier to work with but one that is still in one piece should be easy. Just take your time working from one end to the other pulling it up a tiny bit at a time.
Here is what the clips look like. Hard to see in the picture but you get the idea.
And here is how my clips were making sure it doesn't come out. Notice the little holes in the windshield.
And here is what I ended up with... All ready for some paint and a new windshield now.
Hopefully I will get more grinding done tomorrow. I will have about 2 hours free to work on it I think.
